Oliver James is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join a commercial lines insurance company in a permanent capacity. This is a great t for an experienced Financial Controller, Head of Finance or CFO with a heavy accounting acumen to take the next step in their career.
Our client is a rapidly emerging insurtech carrier and insurance platform that is backed by institutional investors and asset managers. With just under half a decade of consistent growth, the carrier now writes approximately 1billion in premium focusing on small to medium sized enterprises.
This company grew significantly since covid and is open to remote candidates.
The compensation on offer for this role is $280k-350k base salary with bonus potential.

Role & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement financial strategies to drive the company's growth and profitability
- Provide strategic financial leadership and direction to the organization
- Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting processes
- Lead the financial statement close for both US GAAP and STAT ensuring financial statements are complete, timely and accurate
- Have full oversight of the financial control environment
- Responsible for financial reporting including quarterly and annual statutory statements, audited financial statements and regulatory filings
- Develop accounting policies and account for complex transactions
- Develop reinsurance accounting programs
- Lead a team of investment accounting for US STAT and US GAAP
- Lead a growing team providing effective coaching and prioritization of deliverable
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Controller, Head of Finance or CFO or in a similar senior financial leadership role
- Experienced Commercial lines insurance professional with depth of knowledge in both US GAAP and US Statutory Accounting Principles is required
- In depth knowledge of US Statutory financial statement and regulatory filings, required
- Exposure to complex reinsurance programs
- Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory frameworks
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strategic thinker with a track record of driving financial performance
- Ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams
- CPA or MBA or CFA certification is highly regarded.
